What We Believe

"You cannot go with God and stay where you are." - Henry Blackaby

-----------------------------------

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Huntsville Park Baptist Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of biblical doctrines.

God

There is one eternally existing God who subsists in unity and also as three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy.

Jesus

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired those who wrote the Bible. He enables us to understand truth and convicts us of sin and convinces us of righteousness and judgement. He regenerates believers and comes to live within them from the moment of their conversion. He guides us, comforts us, and gives us spiritual gifts through which we serve God and His church.

Salvation

Every human being has sinned and deserves punishment and separation from God. Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers eternal life as a free gift to all who repent of their sins, place their faith in Jesus Christ, and receive Him as their Lord and Savior.  Salvation can be found in Christ alone.

The Church

We believe the local church is made of baptized believers in Christ, and that baptism is of immersion in water and is in obedience to the Lord. The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to love and glorify God, to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and to love and serve our fellow human beings.

Revelation

The Bible is the infallible, inspired, and authoritative written Word of God. God has also revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, and the Bible tells us that God's power and majesty are revealed in all of creation itself.
